Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship Requirement and Eligibility
The following are the eligibility requirements for a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship:
- Scholarships from the Foundation may only be used at institutions that are listed by the US Department of Education as being accredited by reputable accrediting agencies and that regularly maintain a regular faculty and curriculum, as well as a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the location where educational activities are carried out.
- Employees and immediate family members of Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, its parent, affiliates, and subsidiaries are not eligible.
- Students must certify that they did not participate as a student-athlete (whether on a partial or full athletic scholarship or otherwise) in intercollegiate sports during the previous semester (or quarter, if applicable) or academic year and will not participate as a student-athlete in intercollegiate athletics during the upcoming semester (or quarter, if applicable).
- Students pursuing degrees solely through online or distance learning programs are ineligible for Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarships.
- Graduating high school seniors must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
- For college applications, a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 is required.
- High school seniors who are enrolled full-time and on track to graduate in the spring or summer of 2023 with plans to enroll in college no later than the following fall; OR students who are enrolled full-time in college as freshmen or sophomores, who will not be older than 20 on August 1, 2023, and who are making regular progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree;
- Candidates must be high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores from Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
- Applicants must be citizens of the United States or permanent residents;
- When a portion of the needed curriculum is taught on campus and such a course is only offered online or through distance learning, online or distance learning courses are approved.
- Scholars of the Jimmy Rane Foundation are students who have excelled academically, exhibited leadership qualities, and committed themselves to their community. They have also participated in extracurricular activities, received prizes, and been recognized for their achievements. They must possess a strong drive and the ability to overcome challenges in order to accomplish their goals.

Should I inform you of my results? No. Your scores must be submitted by the February deadline or earlier.
Is there a minimum grade point average requirement?
Yes. The minimum grade point average (GPA) requirement for high school applicants is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. On a scale of 4.0, all college candidates must have a 2.75 GPA.
Does applying for a scholarship require that I be a citizen of the United States?
A permanent resident (with a Permanent Resident Card) who is in the process of becoming a citizen of the United States is also acceptable.

The scholarship is awarded in part based on financial necessity.

No. You are still eligible, but the amount you receive may fluctuate. The only exception to this rule is if you are offered a scholarship that covers all of your expenses. Please notify the Foundation so that the scholarship money can be re-awarded.
